Apache Warpaint
Country of Origin: USA
Apache War Paint is a dolomite that is colored by iron and copper. This material is being mined close to an abandoned copper mine near Morenci, AZ which is north and east of Tucson. The pattering and color of the stone reminded the miner of "war paint" since Native Americans, namely the Apache reservation, are near this area of mining and thus inspired the name.
